DIAGNOSIS: STATUS ASTHMATICUS

· High flow humidified oxygen inhalation 4 litres/ min

· Inj. HYDROCORTISONE HEMISUCCINATE 100mg i.v. stat

Dispense 1 ampoule

100mg to be given slow i.v stat, repeat 100mg every 6^th hrly

· SALBUTAMOL 2.5 mg + IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE 2.5 mg nebulization

3 ml of salbutamol and Ipratropium to be combined and given as nebulization over 30 minutes.

· Inj. TERBUTALINE 0.4mg/ml

Dispense 1 ampoule

1 ampoule to be given s/c stat

· Endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation if needed.

· Treat chest infections with intensive antibiotic therapy

· Correct dehydration and acidosis with saline+sodium bicarbonate infusion
